Progressive
Bloggers
"Progressive Bloggers is a group of Canadian bloggers who firmly believe
that this great country needs to move forward, not backwards. Be they Liberal
or liberal, New Democrats or democrats, Green voters or voters who want a
green country, or even Red Tories searching for a home, these bloggers believe
that Canadian politics should move in a progressive direction. On these blogs
you will read about the importance of the environment, the need to preserve
Canadas social programs and its multicultural mosaic. Youll see
posts on why national unity is important and on why there are worse problems
than letting two people who love each other marry. If you have a progressive
blog, be sure to join this group. If you enjoy reading progressive blogs,
then youve come to the right place."
CitizenSHIFT
"We are an independent, socially active, and nationally representative
web magazine, that gives activists, organizations, and socially conscious
media producers a forum for watching, listening, reading, and interacting
with the issues that Canadians are dealing with, that may not have representation
in the mainstream media. Our mission is to give a place for the voices of
those that are less heard, or ignored, who do not have the chance to represent
themselves in the media. CitizenSHIFT is a valuable tool for organizations
and individuals to have their issues talked about, and utilizing all the forums
that multimedia interaction can offer.
Our content is dictated by the submissions that we receive, but there are
often shared themes between groups and media makers. Currently we are showcasing
different activist artists work and perspectives on poverty and homelessness
in the different chapters of the web magazine. In the chapter, REEL COMMUNITY
the film and its filmmakers of Hide and Go Homeless are
featured, telling their rigorous journey to get their film finished against
all odds. In REBELS WITH A CAUSE CitizenSHIFT features Craig Chivers,
a photosensitive artist whose activism through photography is showcased, along
with interviews with Craig."

New
Socialist Group (NSG)
"We are an organization of socialist activists. We publish NEW SOCIALIST,
a magazine offering radical analysis of politics, social movements and culture.
Our website and magazine are forums for people who want to strengthen today's
activism and for those who wish to replace global capitalism with a genuinely
democratic socialism. We believe that the liberation of the working class
and oppressed peoples can be won only through their own struggles."

The
Socialist Project
At a meeting in Toronto in the fall of 2000, some 750 activists responded
to a call to rebuild the left by developing a structured movement
against capitalism. (...) The Socialist Project does not propose an easy politics
for defeating capitalism or claim a ready alternative to take its place. We
oppose capitalism out of necessity and support the resistance of others out
of solidarity. This resistance creates spaces of hope, and an activist hope
is the first step to discovering a new socialist politics.

Eat
the State!
"Eat the State is a shamelessly biased political journal. We want
an end to poverty, exploitation, imperialism, militarism, racism, sexism,
heterosexism, environmental destruction, television, and large ugly buildings,
and we want it fucking now. We are not affiliated with any political group
or party. We publish EAT THE STATE! as a not-for-profit way of sharing information,
resources, opinions, and hopefully inspiring ACTION in our community."
